Joseph Strodel, Jr. is Director of Corporate Relations at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration (SHA). Mr. Strodel manages and implements SHA's corporate strategy and directs corporate relations for the School.  He is responsible for developing and enhancing the School's corporate relationships. This includes building research partnerships; maintaining stewardship programs; expanding industry interaction with students, faculty and alumni; as well as partnering on industry events with leading companies in the global hospitality industry.

He manages business development of Cornell’s Center for Hospitality Research as well as the Leland and Mary Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship. The Center for Hospitality Research sponsors research designed to improve management practice. Under the lead of the Center’s fifty six corporate affiliates, Cornell scholars work closely with business executives to discover new insights into strategy, management, and operations. The Pillsbury Institute enables innovation and new business formation in the hospitality industry, by providing students with guidance on entrepreneurship study, enhancing access to hospitality entrepreneurs, and encouraging students to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors.

Mr. Strodel has been at Cornell University for six years. Strodel has over twenty years of management experience in business development, corporate relations, communications, and marketing. Prior to joining Cornell, he was Chief Operating Officer of Healthcare Information Provider, Inc., where he managed corporate relations, executive education programs, human resources and marketing. Mr. Strodel's experience includes management positions in marketing and business development at Georgetown University and the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. He has also served as a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Mr. Strodel holds a bachelor's degree from Boston College and a master's degree in international relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship at Syracuse University.
