Michael S. Greene is a shareholder on Berger Singerman’s Transaction Team. He is resident in the Firm’s Boca Raton office.  Mr. Greene concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate development and finance, real estate acquisition, sale and leasing, construction law, construction contracting and claims resolution, indoor environmental and disaster preparation and recovery, ADA and Accessibility Code, hospitality law, land use and zoning law, trademark and copyrights for owners, design professionals and manufacturers, and alcoholic beverage licensing.

Mr. Greene represents financial institutions, developers, institutional building owners, landlords, contractors, mold assessors and remediators.

Mr. Greene received his Bachelor of Building Construction with high honors and his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Florida.  He received the Order of the Coif, and was a member of Florida Blue Key.  He is a member of The Florida Bar; American Bar Association;  Board Member and Advisor, Indoor Air Quality Association; Board Member, American Indoor Air Quality Council – Treasure Coast.  Mr. Greene is on the Board of Directors, Palm Beach County Photographic Centre; Co-Chair (1996, 1997), Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Corporate Sports Challenge, Palm Beach County; Palm Beach County Chair 1998, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Tri-County Corporate Sports Challenge; Board Member, City of Plantation Advisory Board on the Disabled (1993-1995).

Mr. Greene is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) by the Indoor Air Quality Association.

Notable client work includes:

  • Represented a national banking association in the development and construction loans for the acquisition and development of a 6,000 acre golf course community in St. Lucie County.
  • Represented a northeastern developer in the acquisition of a 5,000 acre golf course community in Palm Beach County, Florida.
  • Represented regional bank in syndicated lending for  two-tower condominium project in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
  • Represented national bank in lending for condominium tower project in Aventura, Florida.
  • Represented Broward County in connection with the Broward County Convention Center (located in Port Everglades) which required negotiation of complex ground lease, air rights, design-build and public/private funding issues.
  • Represented a national developer in the acquisition of a 2,000 acre golf course/equity country club community.
  • Represented a developer in the acquisition and development of a 900 lot residential project.
    Represented the Miami Heat in the development and construction document process for new arena projects.
  • Represented several developers in the acquisition, development and leasing of shopping centers in Florida.
  • Represented owners in the acquisition. management and sale of several hotels, including a marquis property in Miami Beach, Florida.
  • Negotiated design and construction agreements on a complex hotel project located near San Juan, Puerto Rico.
  • Represented Canadian company in successful restructure of ice hockey rink development and concession agreement with City of Coral Springs.
  • Represented an insurance company in the acquisition, leasing and sale of apartment projects in south and central Florida.
  • Represented Martin County, Florida in connection with the indoor air quality issues related to the Martin County Courthouse.
  • Represented national lender in connection with indoor air quality issues on REO properties.
  • Represented Florida-based general contractor on issues with water and mold damage to under-construction office building.
  • Represented national environmental remediation firm on collection and defense of claim issues regarding condominium towers.
  • Represented Florida Power & Light Company on real estate aspects on the sale of 28,000 acres of citrus grove holdings in seven counties.
  • Represented FPL in connection with District Cooling agreements for Miami Heat arena.
  • Represented the City of Lake Worth, Florida on design and construction documents for Public Safety Complex.
  • Represented landlords in leasing of projects throughout Florida and in Washington D.C., including complex build-to-suit leases, further including a “Big 5" accounting firm for its national training center and a major credit card processor in its regional call centers.
  • Represented a major sporting goods chain in build-to-suit lease of its regional distribution center.
  • Represented national developer/manager of shopping centers in regional mall project, power center projects, and community center projects.
  • Represented clients in copyright and trademark rights, including resolving issues regarding improper use of trademarks on the Internet and improper use of architectural plans.
  • Represented financial institution in affordable housing tax credit-based lending in Florida.
  • Represented Japanese bank in $180 million resort loan in Orlando, Florida.
  • Represented English bank in complex asset based loan transaction with US subsidiaries of UK companies.
